Toyota Stout 2025: Compact Pickup Truck Rumors, Release Date, and More
People are eagerly anticipating the arrival of a compact Toyota pickup truck, and we completely understand why. With the new Ford Maverick in the market and the possibility of the Ram Rampage, it's an exciting time. What's more, the Toyota Stout might arrive sooner than you think.
When will the Toyota Stout debut?
Rumors are swirling that the 2025 Toyota Stout is set to make its debut in 2024 as a 2025 model to meet the growing demand for a compact Toyota truck. The 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid could potentially offer a more budget-friendly alternative to the Toyota Tacoma.
Enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement, and Toyota dealerships are feeling the heat. As Toyota continues to lead the truck segment, dealerships are pushing hard to maintain their dominance in the compact truck market.
The demand for the Ford Maverick Hybrid is skyrocketing, and Stallantis keeps teasing the arrival of the Ram Rampage in America. Missing out on this action would be a disappointment for both Toyota and its loyal fan base.
Moreover, the Toyota Stout holds an iconic status. The Stout gained immense popularity in the 1960s, and Toyota maintained its reputation for offering durable compact trucks through the 1990s. Even today, these trucks remain highly sought after for their legendary reliability.
Toyota recently released a teaser video featuring a well-preserved 1966 Stout 1900 model, which could either be a nostalgic nod to its older vehicles or a hint that the new Stout is on its way.
What do we know about the Stout truck?
Official specifications for the 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid have yet to be disclosed. It's possible that Toyota is still in the planning stages for bringing a smaller truck to the market. However, there are hints that both gasoline and hybrid versions might be on the horizon. It's also likely to share the TNGA-K platform with vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 and Highlander, or possibly be based on the Toyota Corolla and share components with the Corolla Cross.
Given that RAV4 models are manufactured in Kentucky, the Corolla in Mississippi, and the Corolla Cross in Alabama, there's a possibility that the new Toyota truck could be produced alongside its SUV counterparts in America.
The Ford Maverick is based on the Ford Escape, and the Hyundai Santa Cruz is derived from the Hyundai Tucson. Therefore, Toyota might consider reconfiguring one of its popular SUVs to create the Stout. To compete effectively, the Stout will need to offer all-wheel drive (AWD), an off-roading variant, and be capable of towing up to 5,000 lbs.
How much power will the Toyota Stout Hybrid have?
The 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid could take various paths in terms of power. For reference, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to deliver 219 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid utilizes a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, producing 138 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque. Ideally, we'd like the Stout to offer at least the same level of performance as the RAV4 Hybrid.
The Ford Maverick Hybrid, in comparison, provides 162 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque but doesn't offer AWD. Additionally, it wouldn't be surprising if Toyota introduces a Stout PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) for enhanced electric efficiency.
Stay tuned for updates as we keep a close eye on teasers about the Toyota Stout. The arrival of a new compact truck from Toyota is a real possibility that's generating plenty of excitement.
